Movie night draws crowd to Downtown Event Park

By Becky Polaski Staff Writer

Mild temperatures and dry weather on Friday made for a perfect start for the City of St. Marys Parks and Recreation Department’s Movies in the Park this summer.

“Toy Story 4” was the first of the three movies that will be shown this summer, and the free event drew a sizable crowd to Downtown Event Park on Depot Street in St. Marys. Attendees brought lawn chairs and blankets to enjoy the movie, which got underway just after 9 p.m.

The next movie to be shown this summer as part of Movies in the Park will be “Onward.” Unlike the other two movies, “Onward” will be shown at the St. Marys Community Pool at dusk on Friday, July 30. While there is no fee for attendees who have a pool pass, there will be a small fee for other members of the community who wish to attend. Additionally, for safety reasons, attendance will be capped at 200 people.

The final Movie in the Park of the summer will be “Secret Life of Pets 2,” which will be shown at dusk on Friday, Aug. 20 at Downtown Event Park. This event will be free to the community and there will be no limit on attendance.
