Arthur L. Myers, Jr

Arthur L. “Art” Myers, Jr., 68, of Rasselas, died Friday evening, July 23, 2021 surrounded by his family at UPMC Shadyside Hospital, Pittsburgh. He was born a fifth generation farm boy on March 30, 1953 in Ridgway, a son of Arthur L. Myers, Sr. and Sheila Dorio Myers. On November 12 1977 in Holy Rosary Church, Johnsonburg he married his high school sweetheart Mary Ann Leader, and she survives. Together, they built a log home and started a family. He has resided in the Rasselas area all his life. Art was a 1971 graduate of Johnsonburg Area High School. An all-state football star, he then attended the University of Kentucky on a full scholarship. While at UK, he majored in Forestry and lettered as an offensive lineman for the Wildcats from 1971-1975. Art was a member of Holy Cross Church. He was deeply rooted in the community and had an intense love of family and nature. He had coached football as an assistant for over 20 years. He was loved and respected by all who came in contact with him as a colleague, coach, athlete or mentor. A gentle giant, he was a truly selfless person, a loving husband and an amazing father and grandfather. His life well lived has been hard to summarize in a few words. He had retired from his job as a Park Ranger for the Army Corps. Of Engineers in December of 2019 after 43 years of service at both Kinzua Dam and East Branch Dam. During his tenure with the Corps. Of Engineers, he received multiple awards including Park Ranger of the Year in the Pittsburgh District.

Art is survived by his wife Mary Ann at home, a son Matthew Myers and his wife Stephanie and their son Eli of Johnsonburg and a daughter Emma Myers of Pittsburgh.

In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by a brother Timothy A. “Red” Myers who passed away on July 3, 2021.

Friends and family are invited to attend a visitation with family to be held on Friday afternoon, July 30, 2021 from 4 - 6 p.m. at the Anthony F. Ferragine Funeral Home and Cremation Services Chapel, 401 Chestnut Street, Johnsonburg. Funeral services and interment will be private.
