District 9 releases soccer playoff brackets

Brackets for the upcoming District 9 soccer championships have been released and all four local teams are set to be in action next week.

Class A boys

A total of seven teams entered the Class A boys’ tournament, with the Elk County Catholic Crusaders being the seventh seed.

Six of the seven teams are scheduled to be in action on Tuesday in opening round games.

In the top half of the bracket, fourth seeded Kane will host fifth seeded Redbank Valley at 4 p.m. Tuesday. The winner will advance to the semifinals to take on top seeded Brockway at 4 p.m. on Thursday in Brockway. The Rovers have an opening round bye.

In the bottom half of the bracket, third seeded Port Allegany will host sixth seeded Coudersport at 4 p.m. Tuesday and second seeded Clarion-Limestone will host seventh seeded ECC, also at 4 p.m. Tuesday. The winners of both matches will meet in the other semifinal at the site of the higher seeded team on Thursday at a time to be announced.

Both semifinal winners will play for the District 9 Class A title on Tuesday, Nov. 2 at a site and time to be announced. The District 9 champion will advance to the 2021 PIAA 1A Boys’ Soccer Championship and will take on the third place team from District 7 in the first round on Tuesday, Nov. 9 at a site and time to be announced.

Additionally, the District 9 runner-up will face the District 5 runner-up on Saturday, Nov. 6 at 1 p.m. in Windber. The winner will advance to the 2021 PIAA 1A Boys’ Soccer Championship and will take on the District 7 champion in the first round on Tuesday, Nov. 9 at a site and time to be announced.

Class A girls

Five teams will be in action in the Class A girls’ tournament, with the Elk County Catholic Lady Crusaders being the third seed.

Action gets underway on Monday when fourth seeded Port Allegany will host fifth seeded Clarion in an opening around match at 4 p.m. The winner will advance to take on top seeded Brockway in the semifinals at 5 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 28 in Brockway.

In the other semifinal, second seeded Forest will host third seeded ECC at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 27.

The winners of both semifinals will play for the District 9 title on Tuesday, Nov. 2 at a site and time to be announced. The District 9 champion will advance to the 2021 PIAA 1A Girls’ Soccer Championship and will face the District 6 champion in the first round on Tuesday, Nov. 9 at a site and time to be announced.

Class AA boys

The Class AA boys’ tournament will feature three teams, with the St. Marys Area Flying Dutchmen being the second seed.

St. Marys Area will host third seeded Punxsutawney on Wednesday, Oct. 27 at 3:30 p.m. The winner will advance to face top seeded Karns City in the District 9 title game on Thursday, Nov. 4 at 5 p.m. in Brockway.

Class AA girls

Four teams will be in action in the Class AA girls’ tournament, with the St. Marys Area Lady Dutch being the third seed.

Semifinals will be played on Wednesday, Oct. 27, with top seeded Clearfield hosting fourth seeded Brookville in a 6 p.m. match, and second seeded Karns City hosting third seeded St. Marys Area in a 6 p.m. match.

The winners of both semifinals will play for the District 9 title on Thursday, Nov. 4 at 7 p.m. in Brockway.

Class AAA boys

Three teams will be in action in the Class AAA boys’ tournament.

Second seeded DuBois Area will host third seeded Clearfield at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 27, with the winner advancing to the District 9 title game against top seeded Bradford.

The District 9 title game is scheduled to be played on Monday, Nov. 1 at 7 p.m. in Brockway.

Class AAA girls

Only two teams will be in action in the Class AAA girls’ tournament.

Top seeded Bradford and second seeded DuBois Area will face off for the District 9 title at 5 p.m. in Brockway on Monday, Nov. 1.

The District 9 champion will advance to take on the District 10 champion on Saturday, Nov. 6 at 11 a.m. in Brockway.
