ST. MARYS - South St. Marys Street Elementary School kicked off their school wide Olympics on Monday afternoon with an opening ceremony celebration.
The event was originally slated to also include a parade of nations down the street into nearby Berwind Park, however it was moved inside to the school gymnasium due to inclement weather.
As is tradition students performed several songs including “God Bless the USA”.
Students chosen to carry the Olympic banner were: Ava Bray and Ashton Ludwig from Mrs. Belovesick’s class; Ava Powell and Chase VanAlstine from Mr. Caskey’s class; Ela Brooks and Brycen Smith from Ms. Hart’s class; Tabitha Schreiber and Lucas Pistner from Miss Leidwinger’s class; and Kaylynn Krug and Madeline Beck from
Mrs. Smith’s class.
The Olympics will continue this week at Berwind Park with two classes competing each day, one in the morning and another in the afternoon.
