Preservation Group are inviting members of the community to step back more than a century for their 1910 Victorian Christmas Holiday House Tour, which is being held on Sunday from 2-5 p.m. at residences located at 139 and 319 N. Michael St., St. Marys.

As for how the idea for the event came about, St. Marys Heritage Preservation Group President Lois Nedzinski explained that she and other members wanted to share St. Marys’ history with members of the community.

“We have an energetic group, and we wanted to share some of the history of St. Marys with people in the area,” Nedzinski said. “Our members are always thinking of things to do to bring our community together.”

The tour will have a lot to offer of interest to attendees, and Nedzinski particularly encouraged anyone interested in historic buildings not to miss out on the opportunity to see the two N. Michael Street sites.

“People interested in historic buildings and architecture will enjoy seeing these restored homes, and it is sure to put them in the holiday spirit,” Nedzinski said.

According to Nedzinski, at each of the homes, there will be “lots of holiday decorations in the flare of the past,” along with some live music and guides dressed in period clothing.

There is a fee to attend, and additional information can be found on the St. Marys Heritage Preservation Group’s Facebook page.

Nedzinski added that the St. Marys Heritage Preservation Group is interested in holding additional events in the future if there is community interest.

“If there is an interest, we would love to bring other tours or historical events to the people of our area,” Nedzinski said.
