City compost site available to residents, contractors

The city's compost site located off of Wilson Road is open seven days a week during daylight hours. St. Marys residents and yard/ landscaping contractors can drop off their grass clippings, leaves from trees, bushes and other plants, garden residue, shrubbery and tree trimmings free of charge.

Residents are reminded that when transporting material to the site to make sure the it is contained and/ or tied down so no material is blowing out of vehicles and trailers onto the roadway.

All yard waste should be free of foreign materials, including, but not limited to, plastic bags, metal, dirt, stones, treated wood, painted wood, animal feces and garbage.

The site is under surveillance and no illegal dumping will be tolerated. Should anyone be caught removing materials from the site or dropping off unacceptable materials the proper authorities will be notified and the appropriate legal action will be pursued.

The public's cooperation is greatly appreciated in order to continue this service to city residents.
