ECC fall cheer squad had six four-year letter winners

ECC fall cheerleading assistant coach Marlene Stubber recapped the team's season during Elk County Catholic High School's Fall Athletic Awards Program after head coach Frankie Herzing was unable to be in attendance.

“In fall cheerleading, we cheer for the football team, and they gave us many exciting games to cheer for this year,” Stubber said. “We were also blessed with great weather this year, so it was a very enjoyable season for our 13 cheerleaders.”

In addition to cheering at the Crusader football team's games, Stubber noted that the squad ran a very successful cheer clinic that had over 50 elementary school aged girls in attendance, and they also planned ECC's Spirit Week and pep rally ahead of Homecoming.

“That was a big event for us as well,” Stubber said. “The girls worked hard to put on a successful Spirit Week for the school.”

The bulk of the members of this fall's ECC cheerleading squad were seniors. In addition to the eight members of the senior class, the remainder of the squad was made up of two juniors, two sophomores, and one freshman.

Senior members of the squad were fouryear letter winner Brandi Casper, fouryear letter winner Sophia Gerg, four-year letter winner Biancia Lynch, four-year letter winner Anna Micale, four-year letter winner Sarah Reedy, fouryear letter winner Tiffany Sherry, one-year letter winner Rachel Sloff, and one-year letter winner Madalynn Troha. Juniors on the squad were three-year letter winner Anabelle Chemelli and one-year letter winner Brooke Dippold. Sophomore members of the squad were two year-letter winners Riley Duffield and Marissa Ulman. The lone freshman on the team was firstyear letter winner Jayna Walter.

Stubber also announced the squad's Coaches Award recipient, though she noted that it was a difficult choice this year because of the large number of seniors.

“Giving an award when you have so many seniors and so many leaders on the team is a difficult choice,” Stubber said. “We had a lot of great leadership from our seniors this year.”

This year's Coaches Award was presented to Sarah Reedy.

As she wrapped up her remarks, Stubber addressed the team's seniors.

“Obviously, we're going to miss all these seniors next year. It'll be hard to move on without you. You've been a part of the team for so many years, but we wish you all the best,” Stubber said.

Stubber also expressed her gratitude to the entire squad for their good work throughout the fall season.
