Winter Storm Izzy brings significant snowfall to area

Winter Storm Izzy blanketed the area with several inches of snow Sunday into Monday and resulted in a Winter Storm Warning for Elk, Cameron, and Clearfield Counties that was in effect from Sunday afternoon until 7 p.m. Monday.
According to the National Weather Service in State College, a location two miles southeast of St. Marys reported receiving 8.6 inches of snow from the storm as of 6 a.m. Monday, a location one mile west southwest of Ridgway reported 10 inches as of 7 a.m. Monday, and a location three miles south of Emporium reported 8 inches of snow as of 8:30 a.m. Monday. Additionally, a location one mile east of Mount Jewett reported 12 inches of snow as of 5:58 a.m. Monday.

Missy Beck Sharrow reported 9 inches of snow on Walnut Street in St. Marys, while Paula Annette reported a similar total in the Hemlock Road area.
Patty Poague estimated that around a foot of snow had fallen in Johnsonburg, with Jackie Showalter and Michele Zimmerman both reporting similar totals in Wilcox.
Additionally, Kathye O’Brien Lane reported 8 inches of snow in Sterling Run, Tracey Geci Duncan reported 10 inches in Aliquippa, James Joseph Antonelli reported 6 inches in Wilcox as of 11:15 p.m. Sunday night with another 2 inches Monday morning, and Jenna Lasko reported 12 inches in Kane as of 12:30 p.m. Monday.
